Philosophy

MISSION STATEMENT

Pacific County Fire District 1 is dedicated to the preservation and protection of life and property by providing quality cost-effective customer service through fire suppression and prevention, emergency medical services, and public education for our community.

VISION

In an effort to evaluate the direction of the District, the Board of Fire Commissioners, administration, staff and volunteers continue to work together to develop short-term and long-term goals or a vision for the department.

The justification for the District’s vision is to continue to provide the highest level of service to the community with the resources available, in addition to complying with NFPA standards, Washington State Labor and Industry requirements and Washington State Survey and Rating Bureau requirements.

Our overall goals are:

  • To provide a safe work environment for all District personnel.
  • To provide a rapid response to all emergencies for the protection of life and property.
  • To Improve the Fire District’s insurance rating.
  • To recruit and retain District personnel.
  • To maintain an atmosphere of professionalism and pride.

WE TREAT EACH OTHER WITH TRUST AND RESPECT
We trust each other to make the right decisions. We coach and develop each other for success, setting clear expectations, providing timely feedback, and giving appropriate rewards while maintaining uncompromising integrity. We communicate openly, candidly, and frankly with one another, balancing courage with consideration. If we don’t have the information we need we go to the appropriate source to get the answers we need. We seek first to understand, then to be understood. We keep our promises!

We realize success requires change. Through creativity, innovation, and intelligent risk-taking, we seize opportunities. When solving problems, we seek to determine root causes and then work proactively with the right people to knock down barriers. We encourage initiative – we accomplish our tasks and help others to accomplish theirs. In success we celebrate. In failure we learn. Despite encountering difficulties, we expect challenge to the status quo!
