Fire Investigation Team

The Fire Investigation Team is made up of both volunteer and career firefighters.  The Fire Investigation Team was created in the late 1990’s as a division of Fire District 1.  The Fire Investigation Team is currently led by a volunteer Lieutenant who brings his experience as an investigator with the local Sheriff’s Office.
The Fire Investigation Team as a whole is being upgraded to include additional equipment, establishment of protocols, minimum training requirements, and the attendance of members to ongoing education.

The Fire Investigation Team is responsible for investigating all fires within the response area of Fire District 1 which have a dollar loss of $5,000.00 or more. Since its inception, the team has investigated over forty fires.  These fires have ranged from wildland fires to residential arson fires.  Fire District 1’s Fire Investigation Team is also available to assist other fire agencies who do not have fire investigation personnel in South Pacific County.  To date, the Fire Investigation team has responded to requests for investigative services from five different agencies.
