Commissioner McLeod established that a quorum was present and called the meeting to order at 16:00. The meeting was held at Station 1, located at 26109 Ridge Avenue, Ocean Park, WA 98640.  Attendance at the meeting included:

Commissioner Greg McLeod, Commissioner Tom Downer, Commissioner Fred Hill, Fire Chief Jacob Brundage, Assistant Chief Mike Karvia, Assistant Chief Brad Weatherby, Division Chief David Hood, Captain Mike DeConto, Firefighter/PM Brian Schafer, Pub Ed Coordinator Connie Biggs, District Secretary Jamie Meling

Consent Agenda

  1. Minutes of Regular Commissioners Meeting held on April 19th, 2016
  2. April 4th Week 2016 Expenses, for a total of $2,883.13
  3. May 17th, 2016 Expenses for a total of $224,339.31, not including Jack’s Country Store expenses
    1. Accounts Payable: $22,450.21
    2. Payroll: $201,889.10

Commissioner Downer made a motion to approve the consent agenda, seconded by Commissioner Hill. Motion carried.

Commissioner McLeod called for an Executive Session at 16:02 for Pension and Relief Board meeting. Regular session resumed at 16:03.

Jack’s Country Store

  1. May 17th, 2016 Expenses for a total of $379.85: Needs Approval

Commissioner Hill made a motion to approve the Jack’s Country Store expenses, seconded by Commissioner McLeod. Commissioner Downer abstained. Motion carried.

  1. Fire and Emergency Medical Protection Agreement between Pacific County Fire Protection District No. 1 and Seaview Sewer District: Needs Approval

Commissioner Hill made a motion to approve the Fire and Emergency Medical Protection Agreement between Pacific County Fire Protection District No. 1 and Seaview Sewer District, seconded by Commissioner Downer. Motion carried.

  1. Forest Land Response Agreement No. IAA-11-205 Extension between Pacific County Fire District #1 and Washington State Department of Natural Resources

Commissioner Hill made a motion to approve the Forest Land Response Agreement No. IAA-11-205 Extension between Pacific County Fire District #1 and Washington State Department of Natural Resources, seconded by Commissioner Downer. Motion carried.

District Chief’s Report: (Report Attached)

  1. AC Karvia Report – This Friday is the written test for the firefighter academy, and Saturday is the practical at MERTS. June 2nd, is the Academy graduation. Last Sunday was another successful training burn on 226th.
  2. AC Weatherby’s Report – A new door was installed at 21-1 into the meeting room. The door to the office will be installed tomorrow. The crew at 21-2 has been working on maintenance such as painting.
  3. DC Hood Report – None.
  4. Public Education Coordinator Report – See the back of Chief’s Report

Commissioner’s Reports

  1. Tom Downer – None
  2. Fred Hill – None
  3. Greg McLeod – There is a long history between the North and South Firefighter Associations. He will attend the next Ocean Park Association meeting to answer any questions that members might have.

Personnel Information:  None

Good of the Order:

Chief Brundage received a card from a patient’s family. Firefighter/EMT Hansen, Firefighter/PM Allsup, and Firefighter/PM Schafer responded to the call. The family was thankful for how helpful and kind the crew was – both with the initial response and transfer to Portland. They also showed their gratitude for Captain Karvia. She stayed with the family for 5 hours and comforted them.

Executive Session: Commissioner McLeod called for an Executive Session for Personnel Matters at 16:19. Fire Chief Brundage and District Secretary Meling were in attendance. No decisions were made. Regular session resumed at 16:27.

Meeting adjourned at 16:27 by Commissioner McLeod.
